What do I need to know?
What is doggy day care?
Dog daycare works much like a daycare centre for children. In the morning, you drop your barking buddy off at the daycare centre and then pick him or her up later in the day.
What are the benefits of taking my dog to dog daycare?
There are many! Dogs are social animals and benefit from being able to interact other dogs. They'll learn to get along with others, get some great exercise, and just have some good old fashioned fun! It also eases your mind knowing your dog is being cared for and entertained in a healthy way while you're gone, rather than redecorating your living room!
Are the dogs indoors or out most of the time?
Both. We have a spacious garden where dogs get to socialise and play as well as various indoor nap rooms.
What will my dog do all day?
Run! Play! Wrestle! Socialise with playmates, lounge around and talk the latest gossip with new friends!
Do you have separate areas for different sized dogs?
Although your little Maltese and Great Dane may be best buddies at home, you certainly wouldn't want your little guy to be in a play area full of large dogs! The same goes for older dogs. Dogs do best when they are around other dogs similar in size and energy level.
I have a small dog, will he be safe?
Some small dogs enjoy running with the big dogs but just in case, we have a special area for the little ones to romp with his/her smaller friends. It is up to your dog if he/she wants to play with the big or small dogs.
Do you have toys for them to play with?
We have tons of toys, balls, and toys they can climb in and on. The idea is to keep your dog occupied while in our care and although your dog will have other dogs to play with, toys and activities are important as well. You are also welcome to pack your dog’s favourite toy if it will make his/her time with us more comfortable.
Is your facility clean?
Your dogs well being while in our care is extremely important to us and for that reason our premises are kept clean at all times. No dog is left unattended during the day so if a dog messes, there is someone to clean up after him/her immediately. You are more than welcome to visit our premises to see for yourself.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes, your dog should always have its annual vaccinations to protect it against infections and disease. Your dog should also be de-wormed and be treated for ticks and fleas before arriving. It is your responsibility to ensure your pet is free of ticks and fleas. If ticks/fleas are present, we may treat your pet and you will need to reimburse us for any expense incurred.
Who can come?
We have no restrictions based on dog size or age. The only thing we do require though is proof of current vaccinations against rabies, distemper and bordetella and that if your dog is older than 6 months, he or she has been sterilised.
Do you accept all breeds?
Yes, all dogs are welcome. Owners need to certify that their pet(s) have not harmed or shown aggression toward any person or other pet. A meet and greet session with your dog prior to enrollment is required though.
What will I need to provide for my dog?
Everything that you would supply if a friend or neighbour was caring for your dog. For instance: biscuits or their favourite treats if needed,(We like to place an emphasis on this so that your Pet feels as at home as possible while with us).
If your dog has special dietary needs or medication this is not a problem. If your dog eats fresh chicken or fish, you will need to cook these and provide the food in freezer bags which can be defrosted each day. We suggest that you provide an extra sheet explaining what food or medication should be given and when.
What if my Dog becomes ill during the day while I’m not there?
This is highly unlikely, but on the off chance that your dog becomes ill we will immediately notify you by phone. We use a very reliable local Vet and have their 24 hour number on record. We will keep you informed every step of the way, and make sure your pet eats well, plays and displays happy behaviour to make sure he or she is well and healthy and not off-colour.
Does my dog have to attend everyday?
No, but you may come everyday if you like. Some of our guests come three times a week or two times a week. It is up to you and your pet to decide the number of days he/she attends day care. However, we do require you commit to bringing your dog at least once a week. The reason for this is to not only ensure your dog reaps the maximum benefits of what we are offering from a doggie socialisation point of view but also to ensure that the other dogs in our care feel settled and at ease with one another. Please let us know how many days you would like your pet to attend during the week so are able to accommodate your pet.
Is my pet supervised during daycare?
Yes, there is one supervisor to every 10-15 dogs. The supervisor makes sure a good time is had by all.
How do I know my pet is being cared for properly?
We do our utmost to make sure our clients are kept updated on their dog's well being as often as possible by sending regular updates consisting of pictures and videos to the owners and on social media.
You are also welcome to call/ message us for updates on your dog(s) and any other questions you may have.
Where does my dog go potty?
Our guests can go potty when and where they like but we train them to go outside. Its not a problem if they do mess inside the house as we have staff with the dogs at all times to immediately clean up after them but we do train them.
If my dog goes potty anywhere he likes at daycare will he do this at home?
No! Dogs are very good at learning they can do one behaviour in one location and another behaviour in a different location. If your pet is house-trained at home - he will remain house-trained at home. Your home does not have 30 canine residents with all their attendant odours. Your dog will definitely know the difference between home and daycare.
Do you feed my dog during daycare?
We require you to feed your dog breakfast before they come to daycare. We give dogs lunch if they require and you will need to supply his food or treats in a closed container with their name on. There is no extra cost to feed your pet while in daycare and we recommend that puppies eat lunch at school until they are 1 year old.
